BASIC GUARANTEE

Liberty Acres Farm guarantees all puppies sold by it to be free from communicable diseases at the time of sale only. All puppies sold will be current on all puppy shots as of the date of sale and will have been recently wormed.

We guarantee all puppies sold by us to remain free from life threatening congenital defects for the period of 6 months from the date of birth. I do not guarantee the future presence of Luxating Patella's. The presence of Luxating Patella's is not always congenital, it can be caused from other stress to the dogs knees such as hopping and obesity or any number of reasons. I do my best to breed healthy dogs that do not have any disorder. But like children, animals can get problems or diseases and it is the owners responsibility to deal with it and treat it as needed. I do not pay vet bills for clients AT ALL for any reason..please understand this before accepting your puppy.

All puppies shipped will be given a Veterinarian examination before ownership is transferred to the buyer and will come with a State of Ohio Health Certificate signed by our veterinarian. All available health and vaccination records for the puppy will be given to the new owner when the puppy is shipped or picked up at farm.

The buyer will have 72 hours from the time they receive their puppy to have it examined by a veterinarian of their choice. Buyers will be provide with  a "Puppy Health Check and Veterinary Release Form" which must be completed and signed by a licensed veterinarian of the buyer's choice when the puppy has the above examination. Failure to have this form signed by the veterinarian and returned to Liberty Acres Farm will void the puppy guarantee.

The following minimum conditions must be met in order for this Puppy Guarantee to remain in effect for the period stated:

1. The puppy must receive veterinary care at periodic intervals to include but not be limited to regular health check-ups, worming and the continuation of the vaccination series which has already been started.

2. The puppy is to receive suitable, daily rations of high quality food and clean water to keep it well nourished and resistant to sickness.

3. The puppy is to be housed in a suitable shelter or home typical for its breed and be kept protected from both extreme weather conditions and other hazards such as predators.

In the unlikely event that your puppy is discovered to have some serious genetic defect within the guarantee period, you must contact us in writing outlining the defect immediately upon its discovery. After your puppy has been examined by a veterinarian of our choosing and that practitioner confirms the serious genetic defect, we will replace your original puppy with one of the same breed and sex which we feel has equal value to that of your original puppy.

In all cases where there is going to be a replacement puppy given, Liberty Acres Farm reserves the right to either have the original puppy returned to Liberty Acres Farm or leave the original puppy with the buyer, it will be our option and our option only. If the original puppy is left with the buyer, the original puppy must be spayed or neutered by the owner within 30 days after that decision is made. Proof from a licensed veterinarian that the original puppy has been spayed or neutered must be furnished in writing to Liberty Acres Farm.

Replacement puppies delivered under this Guarantee will be covered by the same guarantee as the original puppy.

Liberty Acres Farm will not be responsible for any third party veterinary or laboratory bills incurred by you at any time for any reason. Liberty acres Farm WILL NOT PAY YOUR VET BILLS or GIVE YOU A CASH REFUND.

Any health disputes regarding your puppy which may occur will be presented to Liberty Acres Farm's veterinarian who will make the final decisions or determinations on such issues.

The puppies covered under this guarantee are subject to replacement only. There will be no full or partial refunds given. All expenses incurred by the buyer on returning any puppy to Liberty Acres Farm, except as expressly contained herein to the contrary, will be the sole responsibility of the buyer. Replacement puppies may be picked up from us at Liberty Acres Farm or they will be shipped to the buyer at the buyer's expense.

This Guarantee accrues to the benefit of the original purchaser only. It is not transferable and will become null and void if any interest in the puppy is sold, leased, in any other way transferred to a third party or if the puppy is no longer under the direct care, custody and control of the original buyer unless permission to do so in writing has first been obtained from Liberty Acres Farm.

ADDITIONAL GUARANTEE

Male puppies that are sold to a purchaser with the knowledge that the puppy will be shown or used for breeding later in life are guaranteed to have both testicles drop by the age of twelve months. All other males will be sold with limited registration and pedigree and no such guarantee. If in those male puppies sold for these two purposes both testicles do not drop and the buyer intends to request a replacement puppy, the buyer must notify Liberty Acres Farm in writing before the puppy is twelve months old. No replacement will be offered until the puppy is a full twelve months old. Verification of the above condition must be submitted to Liberty Acres Farm in writing by a licensed veterinarian. Liberty Acres Farm may request the return of the original puppy at the buyers expense or leave the original puppy with the buyer for a negotiated fee, at Liberty Acres Farm's option. If the original puppy is left with the buyer, the original puppy must be neutered with proof of the neutering sent to Liberty Acres Farm by a licensed veterinarian. Failure to do so will void the guarantee on the replacement puppy.

All females are sold AS IS..I make no guarantees that any female will be able to breed or whelp on their own. All females that are not being purchased for showing or breeding will be sold with limited registration.

I make no guarantees of final color or size at maturity. Many factors determine size and I can only guesstimate when they are young.

Stress & Low Blood Sugar:   Toy-breed dogs can be susceptible to stress, which can cause a condition of low blood sugar, called hypoglycemia.  In small breed puppies from post-weaning to 4 months of age, the most common form of hypoglycemia is called Transient Juvenile Hypoglycemia: "Transient" because the symptoms can be reversed by eating; "Juvenile" because it is seen in young individuals.  Glucose is the "simple" sugar that the body uses for "fuel" to run its various functions. Table sugar, or sucrose, is made up of two simple sugars, glucose and fructose, and can be broken down rapidly after eating. All sugars are carbohydrates. Grains are also carbohydrates but are considered "complex" carbohydrates because they have many more components and take longer to be broken down. The body uses glucose as its primary energy source.  All the parts of the body except the brain can, if needed, use alternate energy sources--fatty acids, for example, which the body accesses by breaking down fat stores.

The brain, however, is completely dependent upon glucose to function. If the glucose in the blood is lower than normal, the brain function is the first to show signs. In dogs, these signs may be seen as weakness, behavior changes, confusion, wobbly gait, or even seizures. In fact, in young dogs who have had what may appear to be an epileptic seizure, low blood sugar is generally ruled out before a diagnosis of epilepsy is made.

How are small breeds different?  Puppies of very small size and toy breeds of dogs have characteristics that make them more prone to the development of Transient Juvenile Hypoglycemia, which is brought on by fasting. Pups of any breed are more likely to develop hypoglycemia than adults, because their skeletal muscle mass and liver size are smaller and brain size, larger, in proportion to the rest of their body. Therefore, there is less glucose being put out into the blood and more being used by the brain, which is dependent upon adequate glucose in order to function. In small and toy breeds, this discrepancy is more pronounced. Even a brief period of fasting in a toy breed puppy can trigger a hypoglycemic "attack." As discussed, one of these attacks may appear as weakness, confusion, wobbly gait, or seizures.  If your puppy is lethargic, listless, or not interested in eating, stress and low blood sugar may be the cause. Your best bet is to immediately call your veterinarian.

Eating food that is readily digested and metabolized will reverse minor signs, but intravenous glucose administration is required for severe cases. Puppies with Transient Juvenile Hypoglycemia have normal liver size and function, but inadequate glucose precursors or glucose in its stored form. Therefore, any significant stress, such as a routine trip to the vet's, that occurs in the absence of a recent meal, can cause the blood sugar to drop to dangerously low levels. Low environmental temperatures, infections, vaccinations, strenuous exercise, worming, and inadequate nutrition increase the risk even further. Feeding recommendations for puppies at risk for hypoglycemia include frequent (4 - 5 times a day) feedings of high-carbohydrate, high-protein and /or high-fat foods.  Normal feeding schedules will be 3-4 times per day.  Make sure water is available at all times.

Stress and hypoglycemia can cause dehydration and can lead to death.  If your puppy shows signs of stress, you can use a quick remedy for this:  Pedialyte (or generic electrolyte replacement formula) can be purchased at WalMart and is an effective quick remedy for stress & hypoglycemia.  Gatorade or similar electrolyte sports drinks can also be utilized.  Even a quick remedy of plain sugar water can be used, if you don’t have anything else available.   If he will drink the fluids on his own, allow him to do so!  If you are trying to give your puppy any of the above fluids with a syringe.  Improper administration of fluids by syringe or any other means can result in choking or aspiration and can lead to aspiration pneumonia..BE VERY CAREFUL.

It is your responsibility to continue what we have started here. We monitor ALL of our puppies on a constant daily basis, and we are quite aware of the health and well-being of each dog.  Our pregnant females are pampered, spoiled, and given extra supplements, etc., to make sure they are healthy.  While nursing, they receive supplemental vitamins and extra treats to make sure they stay healthy while nursing and that the puppies are given a good start.   We start our puppies off well and try to keep them that way throughout the time they are with us.  We encourage you to also keep them that way after they become your babies by establishing and maintaining a good health maintenance schedule with your vet. Owning a tiny dog comes with a lot of care and responsibility. Be sure you are prepared to take this on. you will have wonderful times with your new baby for years to come with proper juvenile and adult care.

I DO intend to show or use this puppy for breeding purposes.
